HAAS AND HYCHE SWEEP MACCC WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS

Booneville, MS – Following a split on the final week of the regular season to clinch a spot in the Region 23 Tournament, the Northeast Tigers had two players honored by the MACCC with Otto Hyche earning Pitcher of the Week honors and Brett Haas earning Player of the Week honors.

Hyche recorded his fifth win of the 2026 season with a 4-3 win over Meridian, holding the Eagles scoreless through three and a half innings in a win that clinched a postseason berth for the Tigers. He pitched in 5.1 innings and allowed only four hits and one run while striking out seven batters with three coming in the first inning.

Haas was perfect at the plate in game one of the doubleheader against Meridian, going 3-for-3 at the plate with one run, a walk, and a double in the eighth inning. Haas singled in the top of the second and fourth where he scored off a sacrifice fly to get Northeast on the scoreboard and later walked in the top of the sixth. In game two it was Haas's fielding skills that helped to secure the win with three total catches including one putout in the bottom of the fourth and two assists.

This marks the first time that either Hyche or Haas have earned MACCC weekly honors in the 2026 season with Hych being the first pitcher of the week honoree for the Tigers this season. Haas joins Colin Flurry and Hank Eaton as Northeast players who have earned player of the week recognition this year.
