PARKER, WEBB EARN INAUGURAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS OF NEW SEASON

Jackson Parker (right) & Tre'Marcus Webb were honored as the MACCC Players of the Week.

BOONEVILLE, Miss. - A pair of Northeast Mississippi Community College football standouts posted award-winning performances during their sophomore debuts.

Jackson Parker and Tre'Marcus Webb were selected as the inaugural Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively, for the 2025 campaign.

In addition, Webb was also recognized as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a punt for a touchdown.

These honors for Parker and Webb come on the heels of the Tigers' thrilling season-opening 24-13 victory at reigning south division champion East Central Community College.

"Big accolades already to start the season," said Northeast head coach Greg Davis. "I love the attitude and effort by those guys. Obviously, their teammates had a lot to do with their success as well."

Parker had the second most tackles for the Tigers with eight. Five of those occurred after the halftime break, including back-to-back takedowns with less than a minute remaining in the contest.

The Florence native actually made his biggest impact on the special teams unit. Parker blocked two punts by the Warriors that Northeast's offense transitioned into 10 of its points.

His first block late in the opening quarter set the Tigers up at the East Central 43-yard line. Northeast scored four plays later on the first touchdown run of the new season by Qua Middlebrooks.

Parker's second deflection midway through the third was recovered by Ryan McCall just outside the red zone. The Tigers took advantage of the short field with Freddy Lopez's 28-yard field goal.

"I'm just thankful and blessed," Parker said. "I got back there pretty quick so I really had a feeling I was going to get it. Once I had the first one, just blood in the water so I kept coming. I love this game so I'm coming with it every time."

Webb put the matchup out of reach for the Warriors in the final period. He got a key block down the field from Jeb Bolen and sprinted 64 yards untouched with just under 12 minutes to go.

"That's really big for me. I really appreciate that," said Webb. "It was a great moment. I was really proud of that. Special teams wins games. When the ball touches my hands, make a play. That's all I want."

The Montgomery, Ala., product averaged 27.3 yards on three returns between kickoffs and punts. He topped the Tigers as a freshman with just over 400 total return yards.

It was the first punt return score by a Northeast player since Cortavious Rogers picked up his own blocked ball and raced 18 yards to the end zone against Coahoma Community College during the 2023 campaign.
