MAGNOLIA STATE'S TOP THREE-POINT SHOOTER OBTAINS ALL-MACCC HONORS

Javion Stephen earned all-conference honors following his sophomore season at Northeast.

JACKSON, Miss. - The top three-point shooter in the Magnolia State is receiving his just rewards at the conclusion of a solid career at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Javion Stephen, who was the Tigers' catalyst on offense during the 2025-26 campaign, was named to the all-conference men's basketball second-team.

"Jay is very much deserving of this award," said Northeast head coach Cord Wright. "He was consistent all year long for our team. I'm very proud of Jay and extremely excited for what his career holds in the future."

The Olive Branch native was the top scorer for the Tigers with a team-best 14.6 points per game. Stephen also posted averages of four assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals.

He was a marksman from both beyond the arc and at the free throw line. Stephen tied for the most three-pointers made in the conference with 76 while ranking fourth in free throw percentage at 85.4 percent.

Stephen recorded double figures in scoring in 21 of his 28 games played while eclipsing the 20-point mark on six occasions, including a career-high of 25 points against Lawson State (Ala.) Community College.

He recorded double digits in both of the Tigers' postseason matchups. He registered 12 points against Coahoma Community College and then 21 points versus Southwest Mississippi Community College in the region quarterfinals.

Stephen also accounted for a career-best seven assists twice in non-conference victories by the Tigers over Arkansas State University Mid-South and East Georgia State College.

"I feel like it was worth it. I don't regret anything," said Stephen. "Just having the teammates and coaches that had the confidence in me to shoot the ball at a high clip. That just means a lot that they trusted me."

Stephen barely averaged under double figures as a freshman with 9.9 points per contest. His cumulative scoring totals at Northeast include 685 points with 35 games in double digits.

He tied a season-high of 23 points twice during his inaugural campaign at Northeast in wins over rival Itawamba Community College and Marion Military (Ala.) Institute. Stephen drilled six triples in both of those matchups.

Northeast recorded its 12th straight winning season with an overall record of 18-14 while going even in Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) action at 7-7.
