BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Northeast Mississippi Community College men's golf team stayed consistent with their scores in the fourth Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) tour stop of the year hosted by Northwest Mississippi Community College.
Northeast fired a 363 at North Creek in Southaven on Monday, March 25 then turned in a 349 at Wedgewood in Olive Branch on Tuesday, March 26.
After finishing seventh in the third tour stop of the year at Wolf Hollow Golf Course in Wesson, Northeast finished ninth in the team standings at the Northwest Invitational.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Baldwyn's Ty Lindsey who finished in a tie for thirty-fourth overall with a two-day 175. Lindsey fired an 88 at North Creek and improved his score during his round at Wedgewood with an 87.
Booneville's Jay Swinney IV was just one stroke off his teammate as Swinney recorded an 89 at North Creek and 87 at Wedgewood for a two-day 176.
Baldwyn's Jordan Wilson was just one stroke behind Swinney with a two-day 177 after tying for thirty-eighth overall.
Wilson carded a 96 at North Creek then sliced 15 strokes off his opening day round for an 81 at Wedgewood in Olive Branch.
New Albany's Peyton Dunlap rounded out the scorers for the Tigers with a two-day 184 after tallying a 90 at North Creek and a 94 at Wedgewood a day later.
Overall, Northeast's four scoring golfers were within seven strokes of each other and three were within one stroke of each other.
Northeast's fifth MACJC tour stop of the year will see the Tigers stay above the Interstate 20 corridor as head coach Nick Coln and company head to East Mississippi for two days on the Mississippi State University Golf Course in Starkville April 7-8.
Following its tour stop on April 7-8, the Tigers will have a week to prepare for the MACJC State Tournament hosted by Jones County Junior College.
This year's state tournament is slated for April 14-15 at Dixie Golf Course in Laurel with the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XXIII Tournament following the next week on the Azaleas Golf Course at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia.
