Northeast Mississippi Community College pitcher Erin Dixson of Amherst, New York continues her trek through the southeastern United States.
Dixson, who signed with Northeast two years ago, recently agreed to continue her playing career at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Dixson's signing was the first of all three Lady Tiger sophomores receiving scholarship offers to four-year institutions.
During her sophomore season, Dixson earned the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division's first-team pitcher honor while appearing in 38 of 39 game for the Lady Tigers. The Amherst, New York native finished with a 13-9 record and one save while tossing 16 complete games in 144.0 innings.
On the year, Dixson allowed just 34 earned runs while striking out 97 against just 18 walks and posted a 1.65 earn run average.
Dixson was a dual threat for the Lady Tigers as the Northeast sophomore collected 41 hits in 106 at bats and scored 26 runs for the Lady Tigers. Dixson finished with nine doubles and seven home runs on the year along with 20 runs batted in and 13 walks.
During her final year in Booneville, Dixson had a .387 batting average with a .458 on base percentage and a .670 slugging percentage with 71 total bases and 16 extra base hits.
Dixson led the Lady Tigers in home runs (7), walks (13), slugging percentage (.670) and on base percentage (.458) while her 16 extra base hits were second on the team.
However, Dixson made a splash during the opening weeks of the season and was the initial 2013 Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for the National Junior Colleges Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) when the organizations handed out their respective awards for performances in late February.
Dixson went 2-0 on the mound for Northeast during its annual TigerFest Tournament on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 while leading the Lady Tigers to a 3-1 mark in the two-day affair.
Dixson also helped Northeast offensively going 5-for-9 at the plate (.556) with two home runs, a double, three runs scored and four RBI when in the Lady Tiger lineup.
Dixson registered a 1.333 slugging percentage at the plate over the weekend for Northeast.
Dixson's breakout game of the tournament came against Southwest Tennessee where the Lady Tiger sophomore went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored.
In her three appearances for the Lady Tigers over the weekend, Dixson threw 13.2 innings, striking out 13 and surrendering only two earned runs for a 1.02 earn run average.
Dixson's breakout game on the mound came as the Lady Tiger sophomore led Northeast to a 7-2 upset of the tenth-ranked team in the country – Muskegon (Mich.)
During the 7-2 win, Dixson threw a complete game (6 innings), while limiting the Lady Jayhawks to just three hits, two runs – one earned and striking out six.
In the NJCAA Division II Softball Guide, Dixson was named one of the Top 50 Division Returning Pitchers in the nation after posting a 12-6 mark in the 2012 season.
During her freshman year in Booneville, Dixson threw 112.67 innings while striking out 69 in 25 appearances and had a 2.56 earn run average.
