Booneville, MS – For the first time in three weeks the Tigers' spot in the NJCAA national rankings shifted with Northeast remaining in the polls at #21 following a 4-2 week in MACCC action.
The Tigers moved to 28-8 overall on the 2026 season, grabbing series sweeps over Holmes and Coahoma to open the week before falling short against #3 Copiah-Lincoln. Northeast picked up a pair of hard-fought wins over the Bulldogs to kick off their schedule for the week. Emma Abrams pitched a complete game in game one while striking out six batters in her 10th win of the season while Kendall Bragg connected on a home run in each game against Holmes to help secure a 9-5 win in the first before completing the sweep in game two 9-4.
A six game road trip began Thursday for the Tigers with a trip to Coahoma where another pair of two-run homers in game one for Bragg led to a 8-5 win in the first game for Northeast who broke out the bats in game two for a 15-4 run rule win led by Leah Walker who went 3-for-3 at the plate with 4 runs.
Wrapping up the week for the Tigers was a double header against #3 Copiah-Lincoln where a grand-slam from Bragg in the top of the second inning gave Northeast an early lead that remained strong through the top of the sixth before a grand slam from the Wolves resulted in a 9-7 loss in game one followed by a 21-5 loss in game two.
#1 Pearl River remained at the top of the rankings followed by #3 Copiah-Lincoln, #6 Jones, and #7 Louisiana State Eunice who all remained in the top ten from a week ago representing Region 23. #14 Itawamba and #17 Hinds each fell in the polls with #19 Southwest, #20 Northwest, and #21 Northeast rounded out the representatives of the MACCC in the Top 25.
The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow when they complete their six-game road stint against Mississippi Delta in a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM. They will return home for their first home games in over a week with a matchup against #17 Hinds on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
