TIGERS RANKED #20 FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WEEK IN NJCAA POLLS

Booneville, MS – For the fourth straight week in the NJCAA national softball rankings, the Northeast Tigers sit at the #20 spot following a 3-1 week with a sweep against East Mississippi and a split with Southwest to conclude the regular season and enter postseason action this upcoming Thursday.

Northeast kicked off the past week with a home sweep over the Lions of East Mississippi with big hits being the theme of both games as the Tigers bested their foe 7-1 in game one before run ruling the Lions in game two 10-2 in five innings of action. Friday afternoon was a tale of two games for Northeast with the Tigers falling to the Bears 9-1 in game one before heating back up in game two thanks to a three-run homer from Chloe Skelton to lead the way to an 11-3 run rule win for a series split.

Region 23 did not shift much in the latest polls with #4 Copiah-Lincoln, #5 Pearl River, and #6 Jones remaining in their spots from the previous weeks while Louisiana State Eunice fell one spot to #9. Itawamba rose one spot to #13 with Northwest one spot behind at #14 while Meridian jumps into the polls for the first time at #18 followed by #19 Hinds and #20 Northeast to round out the representatives from Region 23.

Northeast finished the 2026 regular season schedule with a 38-14 overall record with a MACCC record of 15-13 entering postseason play. The Tigers will take on Meridian this Thursday in the Region 23 Play-In Game hosted by Pearl River in Poplarville, MS where Northeast will be in a do or die situation to keep their season alive.
