LADY TIGERS BASKETBALL GOES UNDEFEATED ON THE WEEK

Booneville, MS. – Following their win over Jones to open the week, the Northeast Lady Tigers caught fire and stormed past both Southwest (64-56) and Northwest (60-43) to go undefeated on the week while climbing up the conference standings. 

In a 64-56 win over the Bears, Northeast was able to push ahead early on in a combined effort from Maniya Kirksey and Tyquashia McMillian who combined for 14 points in the first quarter to put the Lady Tigers up after one. A pair of triples from Kirksey and Alaysha Williams in the second allowed Northeast to hold on to a 29-27 lead entering halftime before a Southwest comeback knotted up the score entering the fourth 39-39. In the final ten minutes Kirksey went on a heater with 16 points to in the quarter to bring her total to 31 points for a career high in a Lady Tigers win. 

Key Stats vs. Southwest: 

  • Kirksey finished the game with a career high 31 points with 11 rebounds on 65% shooting from the field.
  • McMillian recorded 16 points on the night while Williams hauled in a team high 10 rebounds including 5 offensive boards.
  • Both teams shot an equal 43.1% from the field, but Northeast edged out ahead from beyond the arc by shooting 46.7% from three.  

On the road in Senatobia against the Northwest Rangers, the Lady Tigers struggled in the first half but battled back in dominant fashion to take a 60-43 win over their rival. Northwest creeped ahead in the first quarter with their lead being held only to five thanks to timely baskets by McMillian to open the game. Nakyiah Walker's scoring off the bench helped to spark a run for the Lady Tigers as they entered halftime with momentum on their side before a tear by Northeast in the third put them ahead. Baylon Middleton cashed in a pair of threes with Kirksey adding in one from long range as well while Walker continued to dice up the Rangers defense to help secure another Northeast win after outscoring Northwest 38-16 in the second half. 

Key Stats vs. Northwest:

  • Walker recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 17 rebounds (career high).
  • Two other Lady Tigers reached double figures with Kirksey scoring 16 points and McMillian adding 14. 
  • Williams recorded 10 rebounds in her second straight game with three of her last four performances resulting in double figure rebound numbers. 
  • Northeast's defense played a critical role as they held the Rangers to 25% shooting from the field and 16.7% shooting from three. 

The Lady Tigers improve to 10-14 overall with a conference record of 4-5 on the 2025-26 season. Northeast will head back out on the road tonight to take on Hinds at 5:30 PM before returning home for a Thursday matchup against Gulf Coast with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 PM inside of Bonner Arnold Coliseum.
