NORTHEAST FALLS JUST SHORT OF A WIN AGAINST JONES COUNTY IN CLINTON

 

BOONEVILLE, Miss. –Andrea Cutts hit a one run shot deep over center field to give Northeast a 1-0 lead over Jones County in the top of the second inning in the Region XXIII Semi-Finals game on Saturday, May 5 in Clinton.

Cutts would also score another run in the top of the fourth frame to give the Lady Tigers a 2-0 lead with Jaisa Fox getting it done of the mound.

Northeast would go scoreless over the next two stanza's but would also shut the Lady Bobcats out as well heading into the seventh and final inning. 

The Lady Tigers were unble to add to their 2-0 lead and decided to go with freshman pitcher Erin Dixson in the bottom of the final frame after Fox signaled to be releived.

Dixson would retire one batter to give Northeast one out but unfortunately the Lady Bobcats would once again rally from behind.

Jones County was able to take advantage of their opportunity for last at bat and scored three runs to take a 3-2 win over the Lady Tigers.  

With the victory, JCJC landed a berth into the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) national tournalment.

Ginger Lonergan (22-4) got the win for Jones while Dixson got the loss (13-8) for Northeast. 

The Lady Tigers ended their 2011-12 season 32-19 overall and as the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Runner-up while the Lady Bobcats finished 42-8 and as the MACJC State Champions.
