BOONEVILLE, Miss. – NEMCC's first year head tennis coach Lynn Smither has added to her 2012-13 recruiting class by signing three standouts to her roster in a signing ceremony held in the library at Desoto Central High School on Thursday, May 12.
Jessica Jones, Tyler Smith, and Hunter Seeley have all agreed to play for Northeast Mississippi Community College's tennis program after inking with Smither in front of a crowd of friends and family.
Under the direction of Desoto Central's head tennis coach Mary Ann Parker, Jones, Smith and Seeley helped lead the Jaguars and Lady Jaguars to and overall record of 24-3 during their senior campaign.
Jones was a four-time Division 2-6A champion for the Lady Jaguars and made the state playoffs three years in a row. Jones also played soccer for Desoto Central and will graduate with honors.
Smith was a three-time the Division 2-6A champion and also landed in the state playoffs for three consecutive years. He also had two undefeated regular seasons while at Desoto Central.
Seeley was named the "Most Outstanding Male" at the University of Mississippi's tennis camp and was part of the Division 2-6A championship runs for the Jaguars for three years while going to the state playoffs twice.
"We are thrilled as a tennis program to have three players signing at Northeast and going on to play at the next level," Parker said. It is definitely a great opportunity for these tremendous student-athletes and we are excited about their future as Northeast Tigers!"
